Pasta imported from Italy often is tolerated by gluten-sensitive Americans. Top brands like Rummo can feed a family at $1 or less per serving. With pasta as a base, you can go in many different culinary directions.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces thin pasta (Rummo)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 jar Spanish (Manzanilla) olives
- 1 jar Greek olives
- 1 jar black olives
Directions
- Step 1 Make an “OK” sign with your thumb and first finger. The amount of pasta that fits into this space is a single serving, about 2 ounces.
- Step 2 Thin pastas like angel hair have the quickest cook time, usually less than 5 minutes, depending on your altitude.
- Step 3 Add pasta to a saucepan of boiling, salted water and cook until tender, usually not more than 5 minutes. Drain.
- Step 4 Toss pasta with grated Parmesan and olive oil.
- Step 5 Choose your “olive of the day” as a topping, either manzanilla, Greek, or black.
- Step 6 Add coarse pepper to taste.
